In conjunction with local communities and other stakeholders, the Council has been facilitating the development of Village Plans in over 50 different settlements.
The Village Plans which you will see in the table below have been created to assist residents of the various settlements and surrounding areas to create a vision and an integrated plan of action to realise the full potential of their area, identifying current and future needs.
They provide a context at both a regional and local level referencing relevant policies and plans at a Northern Ireland and District level. There is also some very localised settlement data covering socio-economic statistical analysis and other information on the physical environment of each settlement.
The most critical part of the document is the settlement action plan, which highlight actions that are to be taken forward by people within the community and used to influence statutory bodies and service providers. It also represents and acts as an evidence base of the need for various projects when applying for funding or when lobbying to influence various statutory bodies and service providers.
Each settlement has a Council led project or scheme within its plan which will be delivered in partnership with the community and local stakeholders, delivering a tangible outcome for local people.
