Council & Committee Meetings

The Council uses a committee system in its decision-making process, where a series of individual committees have responsibility for considering different areas of work or particular issues.

Committees themselves do not make decisions. They recommend a course of action to full meetings of the Council which take place once a month. The Council can then choose to adopt recommendations or to change them.

The Council has 5 committees. They generally meet every month. They are:
Audit Committee
Development Committee
Environment Committee
Policy
& Resources Committee
‚Äč
Planning Committee

Meetings of the Council and its Committees are open to the public, with the exception of those times when sensitive or confidential issues need to be discussed.

You can see the agenda, reports and minutes of meetings of the Council and its committees in the sections below.

You can also download a timetable of meetings in the 'related pages' section on this page.
