Mid Ulster District Council has awarded almost £340K in grant aid to groups in the voluntary and community sector across the region.
This is the second year that the Council has offered an extensive grant aid programme, providing support for a range of activity from sports, arts and culture, community and strategic events to community development and good relations projects.
The new round of funding also sees a change from last year with three rolling funding programmes (Sport Representative Team & Individual, Local Community Festivals and Good Relations) which are open for application throughout the year, please allow time for administration of the grant and contact the Council for advice on submission of applications.
Commenting on the funding allocation, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Cáthal Mallaghan said:
“Mid Ulster has a very strong voluntary and community sector, which is demonstrated by the very substantial sum of money the Council has allocated to groups this year.
“Many of these groups rely on such financial support from the Council and I’m delighted to see it allocated over such an array of diverse and expansive categories that will benefit not only the groups themselves but whole communities within the district.”
Grants were awarded in 9 categories: Sports Representative, Sports Development, Arts & Culture, Community Festivals, Strategic Events, Community Support Small Grants, Community Venues, Strategic Community Development Support and Good Relations.
Further sports grants will open in July. Please watch the local papers and Council website for further detail.
