Mid Ulster District Council has awarded almost £371,000 in grant aid to a wide range of groups across the local community and voluntary sector within the district.
This is the third year that the Council has offered an extensive grant aid programme, providing support for a range of activities form sports, arts and culture, community and strategic events to community development and good relations projects.
This year, for the first time, the Council moved to an online grant application process which proved very popular with applicants. The transition from the traditional hard copy paper application to the electronic version worked extremely well and feedback from users was positive and complimentary.
This year’s round of funding continues to offer three rolling funding programmes (Sport Representative Team & Individual, Local Community Festivals and Good Relations) which are open for application throughout the year. Applicants for these programmes are advised to submit their proposals within six weeks of their proposed project/activity to allow time for the administration process and are further recommended to contact the Council for advice on submission of applications.
Commenting on the funding allocation, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Trevor Wilson said:
“We are very fortunate to have such a strong and flourishing community and voluntary sector in Mid Ulster. This is emphasised by the impressive sum of money the Council has allocated to groups this year!
“This year also saw the introduction of the new online application process which proved to be a great success! I have no doubt the money will be used by the groups to provide a diverse range of activities, programmes and events that will benefit whole communities and the entire district!”
Grants were awarded in nine categories: Sports Representative, Sports Development, Arts & Culture, Community Festivals, Strategic Events, Community Development Small Grants, Community Venues, Strategic Community Development and Good Relations.
