Annaghshee Play Park, Dungannon Officially Opened

The new play park, known as Meadowview Park, recently installed in Annaghshee Estate, Dungannon was officially opened by Paul Carr, Deputy Director for the Regional Development Office within the Department for Communities and Councillor Dominic Molloy, Chair of the Development Committee, Mid Ulster District Council, on Friday 14th October 2016.

This project was supported by Mid Ulster District Council and the Northern Ireland Executive through the Department for Communities Neighbourhood Renewal Fund.  It was developed in consultation with Dungannon Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership, who identified a need for the park in their action plan for the area. Mid Ulster District Council will manage the maintenance of this park.

Councillor Dominic Molloy, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council’s Development Committee commented,

“The Council is delighted to part fund this excellent resource for children living in the area. Play is an important part of a child’s development, particularly outside in parks like this where they will benefit from physical activity and interacting with other children. I’m thrilled that we are able to provide parks like this for the children in Mid Ulster to enjoy.”

Department for Communities representative Paul Carr stated,

“Improving the lives of people is the key objective of the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme and this project is an excellent example of what can be achieved when we all work together.”

Chair of the Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership, Francie Molloy MP stated,

“This project will have a positive impact for the children of the estate and will provide a safe environment for them to play.  This is just one of the many projects which the Coalisland & Dungannon Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership has delivered for the community”.

Since September 2003 a total £8.4 million has been committed to the Coalisland and Dungannon areas from the Neighbourhood Renewal investment fund.
