Cookstown spook-tacular draws a record 5,000 crowd.

30 October 2017

Cookstown spook-tacular Halloween fun, food and fireworks draws a record 5,000 crowd.

There were no tricks and plenty of treats on Saturday night at Mid Ulster Sports Arena, with 5,000 people attending the fun, food and fireworks display for Halloween this year.

The highlight of the event was a spectacular fireworks display at 8pm which drew gasps of admiration from the crowd. Other activities at the free event organised by Mid Ulster District Council included: live music from The Glackin Brothers, family entertainment with arts and crafts stations, balloon modelling and face painting, and magic shows, as well as the vortex tunnel, a climbing wall, krazy karts and caterpillar train.

Jaw-dropping fire breathing and fire juggling impressed the audience and spell-binding stories and spine-tingling tales of witchcraft and wizardry were provided by Wilfred the Wolf, at the end of a spooky trail featuring things that go bump in the night! And all this could be enjoyed while being tempted by the terrifyingly tasty sweet and savoury treats on site that were extremely popular with adults and children alike!

The sky above Cookstown was set ablaze with colour as a final flourish to the evening’s events as Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Kim Ashton gave the countdown to ignition of the eagerly anticipated fireworks display, which drew the event to a close.
