Pack up your picnics, gather family and friends and be sure to have a great day out at Dungannon Park on Bank Holiday Monday 29th August, for an afternoon of free fun and entertainment at the town’s annual Picnic in the Park event.
Organised by Mid Ulster District Council the event will take place from 12 noon – 6.00pm marking the end of the school summer holidays and everyone is welcome to join in the fun. There will be live music, family entertainment and guests should bring their own picnic food and blankets. Food will also be available to purchase on-site.
The Council has teamed up with Streetwise Performance to bring an array of fantastic family entertainment to Dungannon Park. Show pieces including, street artists Jim & Dr Nick, who are two of Ireland’s top street circus entertainers offering a comic display of juggling, unicycling, fire juggling and ladder balancing. Aldo the Magician will add an element of mystery and trickery to the day and there will be story telling by well-known Irish Storyteller Billy Teare. Billy incorporates songs, music, magic and a whole host of theatre skills to enliven the story telling experience.
Commencing early afternoon there will be a wide range of music on offer from top bands to suit a variety of musical tastes including upbeat tunes by the Small But Massive Samba Band! Bowana, who are well known in the NI music scene for their broad range of blues and rock classics giving their own unique interpretation which showcases their individual and collective brilliance. Also, music by The Knights, winners of last year’s busking competition in Dungannon. The stage and band-stand area will provide a perfect setting for the afternoons performances.

There will be lots of other free fun including face painting, balloon modelling and interactive activities for children including drumming workshops, carnival games and high-energy activities including trampolines, climbing wall and a 25ft tall inflatable Infinity Tower.
