Andrea Begley, winner of the BBC1 talent show, The Voice, has been announced as one of the judges for this month’s ‘Battle of the Buskers’ in Dungannon.
The 2013 competition winner from Pomeroy will join Raymond Stewart of Stewart’s Music Shop, and musicians, Alan Jardine and Robert Kirkland, to assess the musical ability, passion and interaction of the buskers who are taking to the streets of the town centre on Saturday 15th August.
A first for Dungannon, the ‘Battle of the Buskers’ event is being organised by Mid Ulster District Council in partnership with Dungannon Regeneration Partnership and Dungannon Traders Association.
£1,000 in prize money is up for grabs for 1st Overall Winner with 2nd Best Busker receiving the great experience of producing a promotional video sponsored by Dungannon Enterprise Centre, while £100 prizes are also on offer in other categories, including best young performer and Spirit of Battle of the Buskers.
As well as the music provided by buskers, visitors to the town centre can also enjoy street performers, with face painting and balloon modelling for children.
