Dog Fouling In Polepatrick Cemetery Branded Disrespectful
An on-going problem with a Magherafelt cemetery has been branded disrespectful by Mid Ulster District Council.
Polepatrick cemetery is used as an area to walk by locals, and also attracts people exercising their dogs, the majority of whom behave responsibly, as Chair of the Council’s Environment Committee, Councillor Christine McFlynn, explained:
“Most people will clean up after their pets, but there remains a stubborn minority who are irresponsible and refuse to pick up after their dogs. This is unacceptable anywhere, but shows a particular lack of respect in Polepatrick where visitors should be able to visit the graves of their loved ones without encountering dog mess on the grass and pathways.
“I would urge all dog walkers to keep their pets on leads when in the cemetery and to be responsible by cleaning up after their dogs and using the bins provided. And for anyone who is aware of who the offenders are should contact our Environmental Health service and report them”.
Anyone who wishes to report dog fouling should contact the Environmental Health service on 03000 132 132, E: firstname.lastname@example.org.
