A two-day event to help promote healthier lifestyles in men takes place next week (Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June) in Dungannon.
More than 10 organisations with a focus on physical and mental well-being will come together under one roof in the town’s Oaks Centre for the event which is being organised by Mid Ulster District Council as part of International Men's Health Week (15th - 21st June).
The initiative aims to raise awareness among men of the action they can take to help prevent health problems, as well as to encourage them to visit their GPs at an early stage if they are concerned about their health.
Helping to promote the events in Dungannon, Councillor Linda Dillon, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, said:
“Men tend not to seek help and advice as quickly as women and events like these make access to health checks and risk assessment, like those on offer in the Cancer Focus van and from Diabetes UK, much easier. Being able to provide a range of information and practical advice in one place, at one time, is also important when we’re trying to highlight the simple steps men can take for a healthier lifestyle”.
The Men’s Health Event takes place on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June from 11am to 4pm each day in the Oaks Centre, Oaks Road, Dungannon.
