Cookstown Counts Down To Mouth-Watering Market

01 May 2015

The count down is on to the 2015 continental market which will bring mouth-watering flavours to Cookstown town centre.

From Friday 8th to Sunday 10th May, the town centre will be filled with the aroma of food from around the world, as well as the sights and sounds of on-street entertainment.

Live music comes with singing chefs, a saxophonist lounge, the John Whaley Jazz band and local musician, Ryan McGarrity on Saturday 9th May (12noon – 4pm), while Cookstown Folk Club, Caroline Creggan’s School of Dance, Hype, The Hub’s Choir and the acrobatic group Afrikan Warriors all feature in the Sunday line-up (1pm – 5pm).

Stiltwalkers, face painters, jugglers, puppet shows and caricature artists will add to the carnival atmosphere throughout the weekend.

Up to 40 international traders in William Street will be joined by local stall holders in James Street during the weekend event which has been organised by Mid Ulster District Council, in partnership with Cookstown Town Centre Forum, and forms part of Market Place Europe’s spring tour.

The continental market takes place along William Street in Cookstown town centre from Friday 8 May (9am – 8pm), Saturday 9 May (9am – 6pm) and Sunday 10 May (1pm - 6pm).

To facilitate the expected increased visitor numbers in a safe environment, a road closure will be in place along William Street from 8pm on Thursday 7 May through to 9pm on Sunday 10 May 2015. The road closure will be in place from the Orritor Street/Coagh Street junction to the Burn Road/James Street junction.
