Contractors have broken ground on the multi-million pound public realm scheme in Dungannon.
The second phase of investment, funded by the Department for Social Development (DSD) and Mid Ulster District Council, aims to enhance the appearance of the town centre, bringing improved paving and lighting and new street furniture, signage and planting.
Scotch Street, Scotch Street Centre, Georges Street, William Street, Ann Street, Thomas Street, Perry Street and Northland Row are all part of the programme of works which will take place in stages over the next 9 months.
Chair of the Council, Councillor Linda Dillon, met contractors on site at the beginning of the work:
“Breaking ground is a milestone in this next phase of the public realm work in Dungannon and in the months to come, local people, our businesses and visitors will begin to see the results of the improvements.
“This is a busy trading period and we will strive to ensure that there is minimal disruption in the town centre, and that people can continue to enjoy the great shopping experience and the entertainment that will be on offer as we start the countdown to Christmas.”
