Mid Ulster District Council will be serving up a treat with their annual Speciality Christmas Market in Magherafelt from Friday 27h - 29th November.
Councillor Frances Burton, launching the Market said “This is great for the town centre, boosting trade and reinforcing the town’s reputation as a quality place to shop.
“And the focus on food has significance in a wider context. The agri-food sector is one of the mainstays of our local economy, employing 10% of our population. And it’s a sector which has the potential to grow, something we have recognised in the creation of our new economic development plan for the district.”
Our Little Piggy will go to this very special Christmas market. He’s a hungry little creature, so he’ll be delighted to see more than 35 food and drink traders including the Lough Neagh Fisherman’s Co-Op (Eels), Indian Nights Inn, and Papa J’s to name but a few.
Come along and enjoy browsing and sampling the locally produced Artisan food and drink; or take time to unwind in the lounge, where you can experience a craft beer, hot mulled wine or even just sit and relax. There will be lots of hints and tips for Christmas feasts. Local bands and school children will perform in the marquee over the weekend.
Visitors to the Christmas craft stalls will be inspired, and amazed, by the variety, quality and originality of the hand-made craft products and gifts available. There may even be a few special characters on display too!
All wrapped up in this smorgasbord of treats will be Magherafelt’s Christmas Lights Switch-on on Saturday the 28 November 2015 at 7pm. Cool FM for the Switch On of the Christmas Lights with Santa.
This promises to be a captivating evening of festive fun, with the Cool FM Roadshow, prize giveaways, that will finish with the traditional, spectacular fireworks display.
Together these events will bring a fabulous atmosphere to Magherafelt and an even ‘Never Felt Better’ aroma.
Please be advised that diversions will be in place from Thursday 26th November until Sunday 29th November in Market Street.
Once again, this Christmas, there will be reduced car parking rates in Magherafelt town centre.
From the 28 November 2015 until the 9 January 2016, car parking will just cost 10 pence for three hours in all pay and display off-street car parks.
Private car parks will be unaffected by this reduction.
During the three day Christmas market there will be free car parking at Magherafelt High School, Moneymore Road, and St. Mary’s Grammar School, Castledawson Road.
