Successful Start-Up Receives Guidance from Mid Ulster Business Start Programme

16 March 2017

A new business set up by Mark O’Neill, Roof Window Solutions NI, which specialises in roof window repairs and replacements, received support and advice from the Mid Ulster Business Start Programme before starting up.

As part of this innovative programme Mark availed of FREE tailored advice and worked with a Business Advisor from Workspace Enterprises Ltd on a one-one basis to develop a business plan. A vital first step when moving into self-employment and starting a new business.

In describing the support Mark received, he commented,

“Participating on this programme has been really worthwhile. It helped me take a step back and look at my idea properly. I’ve always been in employment so the thought of going out on my own was a daunting one but I’m feeling much more prepared. Now that I have developed my business plan, I have a clear vision of how to set up and grow my new business.”

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Trevor Wilson met with Mark at the Workspace Enterprises site in Magherafelt and was impressed by his plans for his business.

“The Council is delighted to see another local business reaping the benefits of the Mid Ulster Business Start Programme and we’d encourage all of our local entrepreneurs to go for it in the same way Roof Windows Solutions NI has done. Mid Ulster has a strong entrepreneurial culture, one of the highest in Northern Ireland, and it’s one of our strategic priorities to help maximise opportunities to create and grow district wide businesses and investment.”

Enda Daly, Business and Enterprise Team Leader at Workspace Enterprises Ltd highlighted the importance of accessing support through this programme and encouraged anyone with an idea for a new business to come forward and discuss it with the programme delivery team.

The Mid Ulster Business Start Programme is a joint initiative between Mid Ulster District Council and the Mid Ulster Enterprise Partnership. The programme aims to encourage potential new starts to produce a business plan as one of the key early steps to starting their new business and moving into self-employment, and will provide FREE tailored advisory and training support to individuals at this critical start-up stage.

The programme is being delivered by Mid Ulster Enterprise Partnership, a consortium led by Dungannon Enterprise Centre, Cookstown Enterprise Centre and Workspace Enterprises Ltd.

If you have a new business idea and would like to discuss it with an advisor please contact Workspace Enterprises Ltd on 028 7962 8113.
