Seirbhís Ghaeilge na Comhairle

Fáiltíonn Comhairle Ceantar Lár Uladh roimh phobal na Gaeilge feidhm a bhaint as seirbhísí na Comhairle trí mheán na Gaeilge a oiread agus is féidir. Tá cuspóirí ar leith ag Comhairle Ceantair Lár Uladh maidir leis an Ghaeilge mar a leanann:

  • Úsáid agus forbairt na Gaeilge a spreagadh agus a éascú laistigh den cheantar comhairle
  • Caighdeán agus infhaighteacht sheirbhísí poiblí trí Ghaeilge a fheabhsú agus éascú
  • An Ghaeilge agus Cultúr na Gaeilge a chothú agus a chur chun cinn i measc an phobail i gcoitinne
  • ​Stádas na teanga a ardú i gComhairle Ceantar Lár Uladh féin agus i measc na gcomhlachtaí poiblí eile sa cheantar le léibhéil úsáide na teanga a mhéadú

The Council’s Irish Language Service

Mid Ulster District Council encourages the Irish language community to make use of Council services through the medium of Irish whenever possible. Council’s Irish language service has a number of objectives:

  • To encourage and enable the use of Irish in the Council district.
  • To improve the quality and accessibility of public services in the Irish language locally.
  • To promote the Irish language and its culture as an asset which belongs to the entire community.
  • To raise the profile and standing of the language in the Council and in other public bodies in the district in order to increase the use of Irish.
  • To provide an internal translation service.
  • To encourage cultural and linguistic awareness in the community.

Here are some examples of services you can avail of in Irish

You can:

  • Write to us in Irish.
  • Ask to speak to someone in Irish when you phone us.
  • Ask for a translator when meeting with Council or other public bodies.
  • Use the Irish language version of your name.
  • Use the traditional Irish form of a place name.
