This song cycle, originally composed in 2015 for the 150th anniversary of the birth of WB Yeats, explores the political and the passionate in the work of the great poet. This ‘chamber version’ of the song cycle will feature piano, cello and harp and will showcase the stunning voices of Sandra Oman (soprano) and Anthony Norton (tenor). Poems including, The Lake Isle of Innisfree, When You Are Old and He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven, will be read by Mary McEvoy and Des Cave. Seamus Heaney has said of Yeats’ poetry that it encourages us ‘to be more resolutely and abundantly alive, whatever the conditions’ and this celebration, in words and song brings alive the power and beauty of Yeats’ work in an atmospheric and unforgettable performance.
