Phil Harrison is an author and filmmaker from Belfast whose first feature film, The Good Man, was released in 2014. Now, his debut novel The First Day has been published to great acclaim. Telling the story of an affair that has repercussions down the generations, the novel has won praise from Sebastian Barry and Patrick McCabe. Phil’s short film, Even Gods, won the short film award at the Belfast, Galway and Cork Film Festivals in 2011, and was shortlisted for the best short script at the 2012 Irish Screenwriting Awards. During this conversation with Glenn Patterson, author and Director of the Seamus Heaney Centre, Phil will talk about his writing and film-making, and making the move from screen to page.
