Dungannon's Busking & Blues

​​Battle of the Buskers 

The Battle of the Buskers will take place on Saturday 5 August 2017 from 12noon to 4.30pm in Dungannon Town Centre, with a live performance at Blues on The Hill by the winner at 6.30pm. 

Battle of the Buskers returns for it’s 3rd year on Saturday 5th August 2017 from 12noon to 4.30pm in Dungannon Town Centre. Musicians, singers, bands and solo artists are being invited to showcase their musical talent in this exciting competition. 

Each Busker will be allocated a pitch to compete along with a time slot to perform in the civic space in Upper Market Square where a canopy stage and sound system will be in place. Additional street and family entertainment will also form a great day out in Dungannon! 

The Competition

Four Judges will score performances on the day between 1pm to 4:30pm. Judging will take place discreetly throughout the afternoon. Scoring will be based on musical ability and entertainment value with audience interaction. Winners of the competition will be announced at 4.30pm.

Blues on the Hill 

If blues are your thing, don't miss the Blues on the Hill this year, on Saturday 5th August, featuring Band of Friends - A celebration of the music of Rory Gallagher, Dublin Gospel Choir, Grainne Duffy, Kick the Bucket Blues Band and the Rusty Jacks Blues Band, as well as the winner of the Battle of the Buskers.

Gates open at 4pm.  Tickets available through the Hill of the O'Neill and Ranfurly House website or box office 028 8772 8600.   

Headline Act - Band of Friends: 

There are many tribute bands playing the music of Rory Gallagher, some good, some not so good, but what they are doing is keeping the music of this great musician alive. The BAND OF FRIENDS is not a tribute to Rory, more a celebration of his life and music. The band
consists of musicians who played with Rory throughout his career.

Dublin Gospel Choir

Best known for their gospel, soul and RnB repertoire their creative interpretation of contemporary pop and rock numbers raise the roof and leave their audiences shouting for more. With powerful voices and rich harmonies whether they are performing as a small
ensemble group or full 40-piece choir.

Grainne Duffy

Grainne Duffy Ireland’s Queen of the Blues from Castleblayney, Co Monaghan singer, song writer and guitarist who has gained a formidable reputation worldwide over the past few years as a class live act!

Kick the Bucket

A four piece blues ensemble, putting their own spin on classics from the greats such as Memphis Minnie and Big Mamma Thornton, as well as interpretations of contemporary artists such as Amy Winehouse and Imelda May. Fronted by lead singer Linda McLaughlin and backed up by guitarist Stephen Rafferty, bass player Gerard McCrory and drummer Shane Tierney they make a welcome return to The Hill.

Rusty Jacks 

Rusty Jacks’ are a five piece‘Southern Blues band’. Their gig song set is a healthy mix of their own material and strong favourites from the likes of ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughan,Rory Gallagher, JJ.Cale,  Allman Brothers,Tom Petty, Blackfoot, to name but a few.​
