Mid Ulster District Council has announced plans for a £1.5M investment in Dungannon Leisure Centre.
The centre’s swimming pools, fitness suite, changing facilities and reception area will all benefit from upgrades as a result of the work, which is scheduled to start in early May.
Renovations to the pool will include new tiling, pool linings, surrounds, filters and structural work, while the gym will be fitted out with a completely new range of fitness equipment and the centre’s squash court will also be revamped.
Chair of the Council, Councillor Sean McPeake, said the plans emphasised the Council’s commitment to enhancing opportunities for the improved health and well-being of local people:
“This is an extensive refurbishment scheme and represents a significant investment in Dungannon and in leisure, giving a welcome boost to the quality of leisure facilities which customers will experience and enjoy in the new-look centre.
“The renovations secure our leisure services on the existing site, allowing time for the consideration of potential longer term options for future leisure provision in Dungannon”.
The centre will close temporarily to allow the works to take place, with arrangements in place to ensure continuity of memberships and swimming programme enrolments for existing customers.
