Mid Ulster will celebrate its ‘independents’ next month when retailers across 5 town centres take part in a week-long promotional campaign.
From Friday 1 July to Saturday 9 July, independent traders in Coalisland, Cookstown, Dungannon, Maghera and Magherafelt, will be creating one-off special offers and discounts for shoppers, helping to highlight the breadth and depth of shopping opportunities available locally – and the importance of choosing to shop local.
The campaign is being coordinated by Mid Ulster District Council and collectively the Chambers of Commerce, Traders Associations and Regeneration Partnerships of the five towns are supporting Independents Week to retain their customer base and attract new shoppers.
Launching the week-long promotion, Councillor Dominic Molloy, Chair of the Council’s Development Committee, said:
“Mid Ulster has an unrivalled range of locally-owned and operated retail outlets, which make a very positive contribution to local communities and the local economy.
“As consumers, by choosing to shop local, we can have a direct impact on the economy, on jobs, and on the future shape and health of our town centres.
“I’m pleased that the Council is once again working in partnership with local traders and regeneration partnerships to market Mid Ulster as a prime retail destination. I look forward to seeing local people come out and show their support for our independents, and at the same time pick up some bargains and take advantage of the offers available during Independents’ Week”.
Shoppers can look forward to picking up some bargains and take advantage of discounts on offer during Independence Week from Friday 1 July – Saturday 9 July. It’s a prime opportunity for both young and old to support our local independents.
