In just over two week’s time Maghera’s official countdown to Christmas will begin as the Christmas lights are switched on, following an afternoon of festive activities at the Lurach Centre and Maghera Walled Garden.
From 2pm - 4.30pm on Saturday 2 December, join us at the Lurach Centre for lots of festive fun for your little ones to enjoy; including lantern making, cupcake decorating, jumping clay, Christmas movies, face painting, balloon modelling, and of course Santa Letter writing.
Then at 4.30pm Santa Claus and Mrs Claus will take time out from their busy Christmas schedules at the North Pole, to arrive by Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and his sleigh to Maghera’s Walled Garden.
If you would like to visit Santa and his elves at the Grotto please pre-book your tickets via The Bridewell, Magherafelt on 028 7963 1510. Mrs Claus will help your children post their Santa letters written earlier that day in the giant post-box, and there will be lots of festive entertainment to enjoy over Soup, Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows to keep you warm.
At 6pm Santa will hop back on his sleigh with Rudolph, to lead the crowds to the town centre where he will countdown to the magical Christmas lights switch on.
Commenting on the upcoming event, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Kim Ashton said: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of year, and what better way to kick off the festive season in Maghera than with Santa Claus and Rudolph! With lots of activities throughout the afternoon for the kids to enjoy, make sure to come down early and enjoy everything Maghera has to offer this Christmas.”
