Kick-start men’s health in Dungannon this autumn

11 September 2017

Mid Ulster District Council is appealing for men to participate in the free Men’s Health and Physical Activity Programme in Dungannon Leisure Centre this autumn.

The 12-week programme geared towards improving overall emotional and physical health in men of all ages will commence on Wednesday 27th September from 10.00am – 11.30am.

The programme will begin with a welcome information and registration session with mini health checks available on the day. Over the following 11 weeks, participants will avail of different physical activity sessions and a series of health information and education talks.

Welcoming the programme, the Deputy Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Mark Glasgow said, “Getting involved in a health programme incorporating both physical and emotional health elements provides a great foundation for improving health and lifestyle changes. This programme is the perfect opportunity for local men to connect, be active, take notice and keep learning.

“With one in four people today experiencing mental distress during their lifetime, there has never been a better time to take responsibility for maintaining good mental health and wellbeing.”

The programme has been funded by the Public Health Agency (PHA Southern office) and organised in partnership between Mid Ulster District Council and Closing the Gap.

Anyone interested in participating in this programme should contact the Council’s Health Improvement Officer on 03000 132 132 or email Ciara.burke@midulstercouncil.org
