Changing rooms at Mid Ulster District Council’s Drumcoo Playing Fields, Dungannon have officially opened again following the completion of an over £230,000 extension and refurbishment by the Council.
Improvement work to the changing rooms located on the Oaks Road in the town included the creation of two additional changing rooms with showers, a referee’s changing area, disabled changing area and suite of toilets, consisting of male, female and disabled facility W.C.s.
Other works around the building included new steps and ramps and decorating throughout.
The necessity for providing the additional changing facilities was due to the construction of the adjacent 3G pitch in addition to the existing grass pitches within the complex.
Speaking at the official opening of the changing rooms, Deputy Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Sharon McAleer, said, “I’m delighted to officially open these magnificent new changing rooms. It’s always pleasing to see investment that is well spent and this is certainly an example of that. The Council has spent almost £800,000 on work to improve this facility and it’s a pleasure to see it come to fruition.
“The newly refurbished changing rooms are a very welcome addition to the facility as a whole and I hope it continues to go from strength to strength in the future.”
The refurbishment was carried out by Ernest Watt and Sons, Dungannon over a period of 11 weeks and was completed in September 2015.
