Dungannon will once again be immersed in festive cheer when the ‘Magical Christmas Kingdom’ returns to the town centre and Hill of The O’Neill and Ranfurly House later this month.
Ranfurly House, at the heart of the town centre, is to be the gateway to the Magical Kingdom and Christmas Fair for the weekend of 24th to 26th November. The event, organised by Mid Ulster District Council, will again see Ranfurly House become home to Santa’s elves and a host of Christmas art workshops while the viewing tower on the Hill of The O’Neill is to be transformed into Santa’s grotto.
A fantastic Christmas Fair filled with stalls bursting with crafts, food and Christmas gift ideas will also take place in Ranfurly House and on The Hill over the three days.
The Hill will again be transformed into a space dedicated to children - ‘Little World’ – and will be filled with traditional fun fair rides and activities, street performers, face painters, balloon modellers, sing-alongs, magic shows and much more!
This year children can also visit ‘Santa’s Christmas Stables’ where they will come face-to-face with Santa’s reindeer and other friendly animals.
The weekend gets underway on Friday 24th November in Market Square from 6:30pm with live music from Justin McGurk and the Boogie Men, MC Stevie King and DJ Chill before Santa arrives on a horse drawn carriage accompanied by Frozen’s Elsa and Anna, to switch on the Christmas tree lights at approximately 7.30pm. After the town centre is illuminated the Hill will come alive with magical fun activities for all the family.
Saturday will see a host of Country music superstars as well as local choirs and other live music take to the stage to spread festive cheer across the town centre.
The Deputy Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Mark Glasgow is looking forward to the return of the Magical Christmas Kingdom to the town. “The Magical Christmas Kingdom proved to be a huge success last year and I have no doubt that this year will be no different. It’s the perfect opportunity to showcase not only the fantastic facilities we have at Ranfurly House and the Hill of the O’Neill but also all that Dungannon town centre has to offer.”
From Saturday 25 November for a 6 week period car parking charges in off street pay and display car parks will be reduced to 10p for the first 3 hours.
The Magical Christmas Kingdom takes place at Hill of the O’Neill and Ranfurly House, Dungannon, from Friday 24th November to Sunday 26th November. For more information call 028 8772 8600 or visit www.midulstercouncil.org/christmas.
