BAFTA-award winning writer and creator of unforgettable television like Cracker, Hillsborough and The Street, Jimmy McGovern, will be revealing his inspiration this month at an event in Seamus Heaney HomePlace, Bellaghy (27 January).
Throughout his career, which began with Brookside and has spanned over 40 years, McGovern’s gritty, socially aware drama has exploreed the northern working class experience and railed against injustice.
Like Seamus Heaney, McGovern is inextricably linked to his home place and has always stuck to his belief that ‘you have to write stories that matter’ and in this one-off event, he will be in conversation with playwright and screenwriter Daragh Carville to discuss his work, career and the inspiration that he finds in his distinctly northern experience.
Jimmy McGovern will be ‘in conversation’ at Seamus Heaney HomePlace, Bellaghy, on Saturday 27 January at 2pm. For more information and to book visit www.seamusheaneyhome.com or call 028 7938 7444.
