Bin collections in Magherafelt and the surrounding area will be changing at the end of this month.
Mid Ulster District Council began delivering information about the changes to just over 16,000 homes in the area on 2 January. This includes an initial collection calendar to help residents to adjust to the new pattern of collections.
From Monday 29 January, customers will see differences in the days on which their bins are emptied, as well as potentially to the combination of the bins which are collected, in Bellaghy, Castledawson, Clady, Desertmartin, Draperstown, Gulladuff, Knockloughrim, Maghera, Magherafelt, Portglenone, Tobermore, Tamlaght and Upperlands.
Chair of the Council’s Environment Committee, Councillor Ronan McGinley, said:
“This is a significant change to local people’s bin routines and we aim to make it as seamless as possible by communicating directly with residents, as well as ensuring information is available via the online collection calendar and our other digital channels.
“I would like to thank everyone in advance for their cooperation as we introduce the new routes and work towards making our service more efficient”.
