Local businesses have until 4th September to register for the latest free programme to work towards achieving the Investors in People (IiP) accreditation.
Funded jointly by Mid Ulster District Council and the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL), the IiP programme offers local businesses the opportunity to work in groups, attending 5 free workshops, focussing on everything from improving management practice to culture and communication, as well as tailored on-site consultancy support to help businesses maximise the potential of their workforce.
IiP has long been acknowledged as the most successful framework for business improvement through people. It helps organisations of every size, sector and location to compete and succeed through improved people performance. The approach to its delivery has recently changed, becoming more tailored to individual business needs, to help organisations develop, implement as well as evaluate their people management and development strategies.
Chair of the Council’s Development Committee, Councillor Frances Burton, welcomed the delivery of the programme locally:
“Many of our local companies are already demonstrating the kind of commitment to the development of their organisations and their employees which the Investors in People standard sets out.
“This is an opportunity, however, to benefit from external expertise and support to explore how that existing work can be turned towards achievement of the accreditation itself.
“I’m delighted the Council is able to support the programme and would encourage our small and medium sized businesses to see for themselves how this programme can make a difference to their performance”.
Joyce Rutherford, DEL said:
“We are delighted to join the new Mid Ulster District Council in promoting and part funding the IiP group programme in such a novel manner. The joint co-operation between the Council and DEL offers an excellent opportunity for businesses throughout the council area. The IiP Practitioner, who will deliver the workshops and in-house support, will offer the best advice and support as companies tackle their individual objectives in challenging market conditions”.
