Traders in Dungannon have welcomed news that Mid Ulster District Council is to reduce car parking charges in the run up to Christmas.
A special price promotion of 10p for 3 hours will operate in every off-street pay and display car park in the town where there 550 spaces, as well as over 300 on-street spaces, for 6 weeks from Saturday 28 November through to Saturday 9 January. The same charges will apply in all off-street pay and display car parks in Magherafelt.
The ability to influence parking charges and introduce price changes follows the transfer of responsibility for off-street parking to Councils in April.
Stephen Mohan, Chairman of Dungannon Traders Association, said:
“Hopefully the benefits of this initiative will be well received by the local community and help to provide a boost to our town as the countdown to Christmas begins.”
The 10p for 3 hours parking in all pay and display car parks begins on Saturday 28 November and ends on Saturday 9 January. Off street car parking in Cookstown town centre is free of charge.
