The Burnavon launches exciting new Spring 2019 Programme

Just in time for Christmas presents and stocking fillers, the Burnavon are thrilled to launch their new spring 2019 programme. Next season there will be something for everyone with workshops, comedy, drama, music, dance and more.

This programme is sure to provide a barrel of laughs with comedy shows galore kicking off with Neil Delamare who is fresh from a sell-out tour, the star of the BBC’s The Blame Game returns with a brand new show ‘Controlled Substance’. Jake O’Kane takes to the stage in February with ‘Nobody Shouted Stop’ casting a comic eye on the good, the bad and the ugly across all political and religious partitions taking an honest, critical and very funny look at life on both sides. Colin Murphy is back with his new stand up show ‘Big Time’ and in March, Conal Gallen returns for two nights presenting ‘Back to Front’ guaranteed to have his audience in fits of laughter with hilarious jokes, song and a few surprises.

Comedy plays are on the line up with ‘Is That Too Hot?’ the much awaited sequel to ‘I’ll tell my Ma’. The amazing Christina Nelson will be back playing all your favourite characters and the hugely talented Alan McKee will be back in the director’s chair. The new Marie Jones comedy play ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ is on stage in Feburary and ‘Give My Head Peace’ returns with up to the minute topical humour, silly plots and political satire.

Musical highlights include concert performances from Isla Grant who will showcase all her hit songs and some new numbers, Isla will be joined by Al Grant, Glen Flynn and Willie Dunne. Derek Ryan, who continues to maintain his position at the top of the table of Irish Country Music’s elite, will take to the stage for two shows featuring many of his own self-penned songs as well as country standards. We are delighted to welcome back the Ulster Orchestra in March, who will bring Beethoven’s No.7 under the baton of music director Rafael Payare. Country Music legend Roly Daniels returns for a nostalgic show in the company of live band Keltic Storm.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Sean Mc Peake was joined by Derek Ryan to officially launch the upcoming events programme and said,

"As we approach the festive season, we are delighted to welcome Derek Ryan back to the Burnavon today for its official spring 2019 programme launch. With over 60 events in the coming months including comedy, music, theatre, pantomime, exhibitions and workshops, it is fantastic to see such a diverse range of shows available for the public."

The spring programme includes upcoming seasonal events including our annual St Patricks Day Celebrations which this year features The Knights as well as the annual Easter family fun day. The Arts and Cultural Development programme within the Burnavon offers a diverse range of children’s and adult workshops. There will be Jiving lessons, Watercolours, Furniture Upcycling and Felt Making. A brand new Minecraft workshop comes to the Burnavon in March and children can also come along to Mother’s Day card and present making workshops. Beginning Tuesday February 5th  we will have 4 weeks of Creative Arts Workshops for people aged 60+ to enjoy learning  new creative skills in felt making, willow weaving, pastel painting and working with Clay. There is also a sneak peek into summer shows in May including The Killkennys, Philomena Begley & Ray Lynam and Cash Returns.

With stand-up comedy, live music and entertainment and a new series of workshops for adults and children, there’s sure to be something for everyone this spring at the Burnavon.
