For some of us, it’s more difficult to find opportunities to be active and activities that we can participate in. There’s no doubt that being more active in our day to day lives and taking part in sporting activity improves our physical and mental well-being, gives us the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, and contributes to the local economy through use of our leisure resources.
The programme particularly focuses on women and girls, people with a disability and people living in areas of high social need. Since it’s started, the programme has offered short courses and longer six week programmes of activity in different areas, from girls after schools programmes, to recreational womens’ football and netball, walking, ladies only fitness classes, multi-sport holiday camps, dodgeball and buggy fit.
