This November and December are full of festive fun to help you countdown to Christmas. From our virtual lights switch on to town centre treasure hunts and entertainment, workshops and festive concerts, there's lots to get you into the spirit of the season.
Virtual Lights Switch On
Join us from the warmth and comfort of your own home on the Council’s Facebook page as Santa, Council Chair, Paul Mclean and the Candy Cane Crew switch on this year's Christmas Lights on Friday 26th November.
Town Centre Trails
Town Centres in Cookstown, Dungannon, Magherafelt, Maghera and Coalisland will be transformed for the season, with festive window displays and lighting, and families can follow an interactive trail through each town centre, (from Saturday 4 December), stopping in at shops along the way to collect clues, and if you solve all the clues, receive a special message from Santa at the end.
OM Santa Experience
Enjoy an out of this world Santa experience at OM Dark Sky Park and Observatory this Christmas. As part of the OM Santa Experience, you'll be taken on a special guided tour, then venture outside before Santa arrives to watch the OM Christmas Odyssey - a new outdoor film capturing a magical journey from the North Pole to Davagh Forest! When you get to meet the man himself, Santa, you'll receive a stocking full of goodies. For more information, and to book, go to the OM website.
Santa's Grotto at Hill of The O'Neill
Visit Santa at Hill of The O'Neill, Dungannon from Friday 10 - Monday 13 December. Tickets to Santa’s grotto are £3 per child. This includes meeting Santa and a small gift. ASD friendly slots are also available. For more information, and to book, visit the Hill of The O'Neill and Ranfurly House website.
Festive Events and Workshops
Festive Taste of Mid Ulster Cookery Demonstrations
Town Centre visitors will be able to enjoy a festive taste of Mid Ulster in the run up to Christmas this year courtesy of three of the region’s most talented chefs.
Norah Brown of Grange Lodge Country House, Sean Owens from Chef Skills Online and Bronagh Duffin from Bakehouse NI will each create a three course meal specially developed for the occasion, using locally sourced produce in a series of live cookery demonstrations this November and December.
All cookery demonstrations are free to attend, with tasty samples on offer so you can try some fantastic local produce for yourself, and recipes will be available to take home so you can test them out in your own kitchen!
