Council Shines A Spotlight On Key Workers
Mid Ulster District Council is shining a spotlight on key workers, on the front line and behind the scenes, as hundreds of employees continues to deliver essential services.
While the Council’s bin crews are among the most visible, out every day emptying thousands of blue, brown and black bins across Mid Ulster, behind the scenes there are a whole range of staff keeping operations going.
Mechanics keep bin lorries and vehicles on the road and a host of joiners, electricians, fitters and cleaners ensure the Council’s properties are maintained inside and out, while staff continue to clean and litter pick towns and villages.
The finance team ensure staff and suppliers continue to be paid promptly, and business support staff in depots and offices are still working to take customer calls, answer queries, process planning and building control applications and ensure all of the crucial admin work is complete.
Registration staff continue to help the bereaved and cemetery staff work tirelessly to ensure burial services are organised with sensitivity and respect.
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Martin Kearney, thanked all staff for their continued commitment and hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said,
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our key workers, we continue to deliver our essential services to residents across Mid Ulster. From bin collections to registration, staff continue to work tirelessly during extraordinary times. I’d like to thank them all, as well as the many residents who have shown their appreciation with messages and drawings of thanks and support. They really do mean an awful lot.
