Tobermore Golf Centre set to tee off again following coronavirus closure

Mid Ulster District Council is set to reopen its 9-hole Par 3 Golf Course and Driving Range at Tobermore next week.
From Tuesday 26 May at 5pm, Tobermore Golf Centre and Driving Range will re-open, with new booking and access arrangements in place, together with strict social distancing measures and enhanced cleaning regimes.
The decision follows the Executive’s easing of restrictions on outdoor activities, including golf.
To ensure that people can use the course and driving range safely, sessions will need to be booked in advance.
The driving range will have limited bays open, with sessions restricted to 40 minutes.
While customers are being asked to bring their own golf clubs, 1 basket with 60 golf balls, which will have been through the automatic washer, will be made available for use on the range.
On the 9 hole course, tee times are being staggered every 15 minutes with a maximum number of 3 people per booking for the course.
Once again, customers are being asked to bring their own equipment as no clubs or balls will be available for hire for the course.
A one way system will be in operation with signage around the site to remind players to follow the route and to keep two metres apart from anyone from outside their own household.
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Martin Kearney said:
“We know that people are looking forward to playing a round of golf again, so I’m pleased to announce that we’re now able to reopen our golfing facility at Tobermore.
“The health and safety of our customers is paramount, so our staff are completing the hard work to get the recommended measures in place that will allow the public to use the facility safely and with confidence.
“There are a number of temporary changes to how access to the centre will work, and we’re asking users to abide by the rules for both their own and others safety. It is extremely positive that the Council is now able to take this first step in providing leisure services again to our residents that support their health and well-being, and we look forward to welcoming back our golfers.”
Players are advised that the putting green along with the private coaching studio with trackman and video analysis technology currently remains closed.
Sessions at Tobermore Golf Course and Driving Range must be booked and paid for in advance by telephoning the Centre on 028 7939 7939 between the times of 5pm and 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The centre will open week days (Monday to Friday) from 5pm to 9pm and on Saturday and Sunday, from 9am to 4pm.
