Gritting

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) staff are on standby 24 hours a day to monitor and react according to adverse weather conditions.

Mid Ulster District Council is not responsible for the gritting of roads and footpaths. This responsibility lies with the Department for Infrastructure.

Under an agreement with the Department, and on the Department’s request, council may assist with the treatment of footpaths in its five main towns.

This means that, when the agreement is triggered, the Council will treat the primary retail core of the town centres in Coalisland, Cookstown, Dungannon, Maghera and Magherafelt.
