Coronavirus: Advice And Information

In our on-going response to COVID19 and in line with the latest advice, we are prioritising the delivery of our essential services.

Essential services include services such as:

  • Bin collections
  • Registration services (births and deaths)
  • Burial services
  • ​We'll continue to receive planning and building control applications

Community Help and Support


We are monitoring the evolving situation with COVID-19 and are following the advice of the Public Health Agency (PHA).

As more people become affected by COVID-19, lots of local organisations are offering help and support for their local communties.

The Centre will operate with temporary safety and fair usage regulations in place due to COVID-19 restrictions, to ensure both the health and safety of our customers and that everyone has a chance to equally enjoy the game again.

From Monday 18 May the registration of births will resume at Mid Ulster District Council, with a limited number of appointments available at Council offices following the completion of an online form.

Parks and Open Spaces

Dungannon Park, Ballyronan Marina and Roundlake, Fivemiletown, together with car praks in forest sites, managed in partnership with DAERA, will re-open to vehicular access from Wednesday 27 May

Cemeteries Open, with social distancing measures in place.

Recycling Centres

Recycling centres in Cookstown, Dungannon, Magherafelt, Maghera, Tullyvar and Coalisland have re-opened for the disposal of waste, with strict access conditions in place and limited opening hours. Centres open Monday - Saturday:
Cookstown: 9am - 6pm *Closed temporarily due to fire*
Dungannon: 9am - 6pm
Magherafelt: 9am – 6pm
Maghera: 8.30am - 5.30pm
Tullyvar: 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am - 1.30pm Saturday
Coalisland: 8.30am - 5.30pm

These decisions have been made in response to growing public health concerns and to address issues of social distancing which has been identified as a measure to limit the spread of the virus.

The Council continues to plan for other contingencies and the delivery of its essential services.


Please follow the latest advice

We would encourage all our residents to follow the latest advice to help reduce the spread of the infection:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands

  • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell

  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze, then bin the tissue and wash your hands (or use a sanitiser gel)
