Infrastructure

The link between infrastructure and growth is well known.

Infrastructure, such as roads, connectivity and facilities, is important not only in creating sustainable communities, but also in unlocking development.

Gas to the West

A major energy infrastructure project to extend the benefits of natural gas to Coalisland, Cookstown, Derrylin, Dungannon, Enniskillen, Magherafelt, Omagh and Strabane.

A6 Road

Delivered by the Department for Infrastructure investment of £160m the project will upgrade 14.7 kilometres of the A6 North Western Transport Corridor between Randalstown and Castledawson.

Broadband

Better broadband is a key priority towards growing the local economy as identified within Mid Ulster District Council’s 'Our Plan for Growth'.

A5 Western Transport Corridor

The A5 Western Transport Corridor (A5WTC) is a Executive led scheme which will provide 85 kilometres of dual carriageway from New Buildings to Aughnacloy. It will improve links between the urban centres in the west (Strabane, Newtownstewart, Omagh, Ballygawley and Aughnacloy) and provide a strategic link with international gateways.

The public inquiry for the scheme is due to reopen in May 2023.
