Mid Ulster Council Supports Local Community and Care Sector With PPE

Mid Ulster District Council has purchased £25K of PPE to support the community and care sector.

Over 50% of the PPE purchased has been allocated to care homes so that they may continue to look after their residents safely, and community groups who are supporting the delivery of food parcels to those in need across the district through their volunteers.

The Council is also supporting the making of scrubs by volunteers across Mid Ulster with a donation of £3000 to source the material required to make the scrubs. This will provide a minimum of 300 scrubs to those in need, which will be distributed upon request with up to two per individual group in Mid Ulster.

The Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Martin Kearney said:

During these difficult times, I am pleased that the Council is able to provide much needed PPE to help our care homes and community and voluntary groups to continue their essential work safely across the district. Without our volunteers, we would be unable to deliver food parcels to those in need and how much more vulnerable would our loved ones be without the dedicated staff in our care homes. I thank them all for their continued hard work at this time.
