Mid Ulster Shortlisted in Let’s Celebrate Towns Awards
Mid Ulster has been recognised in the Small Business Support category in the third annual Let’s Celebrate Towns Awards, hosted by Visa in partnership with the British Retail Consortium (BRC).
The awards celebrate towns across the UK that are driving innovation and fostering thriving local economies. Mid Ulster’s nomination reflects its commitment to revitalising the high street and highlights its strategic efforts to empower entrepreneurs and strengthen the district’s economic resilience through partnership working by Mid Ulster District Council, town centre forums, small business and entrepreneurial support organisations.
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Frances Burton commented,
“It’s fantastic to see our Mid Ulster towns recognised in this year’s Let’s Celebrate Towns awards. The nomination is a testament to the hard work, creativity and collaboration happening across our towns. We remain committed to supporting our towns and communities to thrive, and this recognition reinforces the impact of our collective efforts and makes us strive for more ahead of next years’ awards. It has also been a great opportunity to network with support organisations like Retail NI and learn from the good work other Councils across the UK are doing.”
The nomination (one of ten across the UK) highlights the ongoing work in towns which has implemented exceptional support systems, incentives, and resources to help small businesses and entrepreneurs start, scale, and sustain their operations.
The towns benefit from a comprehensive ecosystem of financial incentives, mentoring, infrastructure improvements, and strategic partnerships that help local enterprises start, scale, and sustain their operations.
Initiatives include infrastructure investment to drive growth; grant support for business sustainability; start-up support and entrepreneurial guidance; and workforce development and inclusive employment.
