The Great Garden Adventure Set to Bloom at Maghera Walled Garden

Families are invited to step into a world of nature, imagination and outdoor fun this September as The Great Garden Adventure comes to life at Maghera Walled Garden.

Taking place on Saturday 5 September, the free family event promises an afternoon packed with entertainment, hands-on activities and magical experiences for children of all ages.
From 12 noon to 4 pm, the historic Walled Garden will be transformed into a series of adventure zones where young explorers can play, discover and create unforgettable memories.

Inside the garden, children can sing and dance along with a Ms Rachel performer, meet a magical Bubble Fairy and enjoy plenty of laughs with walkabout comedy duo BeeYonce and Honey Bee. Adding even more colour and spectacle to the day will be a stunning Butterfly Stilt Performer.

Young adventurers can also get hands-on at the Plant & Grow Station, take part in the exciting Mini Beast Grand Prix in the Scuttlebug Racer Zone, or enjoy creative fun in the Messy Play Zone and Mud Kitchens. A dedicated Sensory and Quiet Zone will provide a welcoming space for children who may prefer a calmer experience.
Outside on the green, families can continue the fun with a range of carnival games, inflatable sports challenges, including football and basketball targets, and a 9-hole mini golf course while interactive theatre shows featuring the wonderfully chaotic Professor Poppyfizz and Professor Bumblebang are sure to delight audiences of all ages.
Popular children's favourites Hey Duggee and Bluey will also be making special appearances throughout the afternoon, creating plenty of opportunities for family photographs and memorable moments.

A selection of local food traders will be available throughout the day along the lane, serving fresh pizza, sweet treats, ice cream, and a variety of hot and cold refreshments.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Deirdre Varsani, is encouraging families to secure their places early, she told us: “The Great Garden Adventure promises to be a fantastic day out for families and a wonderful way to celebrate the end of summer together. From live performances and interactive theatre to hands-on planting activities and exciting games, there is something for everyone to enjoy. We expect the event to be extremely popular, so we would encourage families to book their free tickets early to avoid disappointment."
