Taste Mid Ulster Returns, This Time to Fivemiletown
Food lovers from across the region are invited to enjoy a packed day of local flavours, live cookery demonstrations and family entertainment at the popular Taste Mid Ulster market, which this time is popping up in Fivemiletown on Saturday 20 June from 11am – 6pm.
Celebrating the very best of Mid Ulster’s thriving food and drink sector, the event will feature a vibrant artisan market with more than 25 local traders showcasing high-quality produce, sweet treats, baked goods, drinks and street food.
Visitors can browse and sample products including Annie’s Delights, Betty’s Ice Cream, Kennedy Bacon, Lough Neagh Fishermans Co Operative, Bakeaway Killycolpy, Marshall Beekeeping, The Curly Pigs, Amberline Preserves, The Curious Farmer, KaffinebyKim, Symphonia Spirits, Ballyriff Buffalo and Laid Back Pizza.
A major highlight of the day will be the live cookery demonstration marquee featuring renowned local cook Bronagh Duffin of BakeHouse NI Cookery School, followed by award winning chef, Great British Menu finalist and proud Northern Ireland Food Ambassador Stevie McCarry, assisted by head chefs Ciaran O’Connor and Noah Cole from The Tailors House, Ballygawley.
During the day you will also be able to get closer to nature with Wild Walk Bushcraft delivering foraging walks around the lake,and get inspired to grow your own from Mid Ulster District Council’s Sustainable Growing Activity - ‘No Dig’ beds.
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Frances Burton, said:
“Taste Mid Ulster is a wonderful celebration of the fantastic food and drink producers we have across our district. Events like this not only showcase the quality and diversity of our local businesses but also bring communities together and create a fantastic day out for residents and visitors alike.
“We are delighted to welcome well-known chef Stevie McCarry and local cook Bronagh Duffin to Fivemiletown and would encourage everyone to come along; support local traders and enjoy everything the event has to offer.”
Bronagh Duffin will take to the stage from 11am – 1pm, showcasing modern twists on traditional Irish dishes using local ingredients and seasonal produce.
From 1.30pm onwards, visitors can enjoy a series of demonstrations from Stevie McCarry, Great British Menu finalist and will be assisted by local chefs Ciaran O’Connor and Noah Cole from Tailors House, Ballygawley.
The event will also feature arts and craft sessions, live music from local musicians, children’s entertainment, face painting and a lively festival atmosphere, making it the perfect family day out. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
Parking is available in Edfield Way and The Commons Public Car Parks as well as Fivemiletown College and St. John’s Parish Church with shuttle buses available from each of the car parks to Round Lake. Blue Badge Car Parking will also be available at Round Lake.
