The council is focused on the provision of quality services throughout the Mid Ulster District Council area by establishing arrangements which support continuous improvement in everything that it does.

This is in line with the requirements of Part 12 of the Local Government (Northern Ireland) Act 2014 which indicate that the Council’s 'improvement objectives' must relate to one of the following:

Strategic Effectiveness Fairness Efficiency  
Service Quality Sustainability Innovation  
Service Availability      

Performance and continuous improvement arrangements contribute towards the delivery of quality services and hence work towards the delivery of its vision, values and corporate priorities contained in the Corporate Plan. 

Performance Improvement Objectives 2017-2018 & 2018-2019

The Council has set itself four performance improvement objectives to improve the exercise of its functions. These have been developed following public consultation and consideration by Council. The objectives are set out within the Council's Performance Improvement Plan 2017-18 & 2018-19 complete with actions and the desired outcomes of citizens of the Mid Ulster District. 


Objective 1          To assist in the growth of the local economy by increasing the number of visitors to the district.
Objective 2 To help manage our waste and environment by reducing the amount of waste going to landfill. 
Objective 3 To improve accessibility of our services by increasing the number available online. 
Objective 4 To support people to adopt healthier lifestyles by increasing usage of Council recreational facilities.
