Local Economic Partnership Overview
The Mid Ulster Local Economic Partnership (LEP) has been established as a Council‑led partnership bringing together representatives from the business, community, education and statutory sectors to drive sustainable economic development across the district.
The Partnership held their inaugural meeting on 8 April 2025, with the aim of delivering on a Regional Balance Fund focusing on the Economy Minister’s four economic priorities: improving productivity, creating good jobs, improving regional balance and decarbonisation.
The Partnership oversees the delivery of a two-year Action Plan which has been developed collaboratively through extensive stakeholder engagement. The Mid Ulster LEP Action Plan 2026-28 seeks to:

Enhance productivity of the area’s business base through the adoption of automation, digitisation, AI technologies as well as Lean manufacturing principles

Support business leadership and innovation

Build practical skills linked to productivity enhancing capital adoption

Treat Net Zero and decarbonisation as an economic opportunity (energy efficiency and local green supply chains)

Support the development of the local tourism product / offer

Address industrial land and enterprise workspace constraints to support existing and high growth sectors.
Funded by the Department for the Economy’s Regional Balance Fund, Mid Ulster LEP plays a central role in shaping local economic direction and ensuring alignment with regional priorities through targeted investment and support. The budget announced by DfE for LEPs across Northern Ireland was £45m with approx. £3.86m allocated to Mid Ulster.
