Equality Scheme Consultation Opens

The Council is consulting on its revised Equality Scheme and associated Equality and Disability Action Plans for 2026-31 with responses accepted until Monday 23 March 2026.

The plans detail how the council intends to promote equality of opportunity, positive attitudes towards disabled people and encourage participation of disabled people in public life.

There are three draft documents that form the basis of the Consultation: the Draft Updated Equality Scheme 2026 – 2031; the Draft Disability Action Plan 2026 – 2031; and the Draft Equality Action Plan 2026 -2031.

The consultation closes at 12 noon on Monday 23 March. Responses can be made online, or by contacting the Council’s Policy Engagement and Equality Officer at Ann.McAleer@midulstercouncil.org or by telephone on 03000 132 132 to request a response form by post.

A response form can also be collected from the Customer Service Team at any of the Council Offices in Cookstown, Dungannon or Magherafelt and returned to Mid Ulster District Council, Council Offices, Circular Road, Dungannon, BT71 6DT

Commentary received will inform the Council on the further development and finalisation of the Draft Equality Scheme, Disability Action Plan and Draft Equality Action Plan, due to be published later in 2026.
