Non-Food Retail

The NI Executive has allowed certain non-food retail businesses to open from Monday 8 June 2020.

  • Retailers of new and used cars
  • Retailers of light motor vehicles, lorries and trailers
  • ​Retailers of caravans or motorhomes Retailers of agricultural or other large machinery

The following retail businesses with lower customer density and direct street access or direct access within a retail park may also reopen:

  • Retail of Electrical Household Appliances
  • Retail sale of Computers, Peripheral Units and Software but excluding the retail of video games Retail sale of Audio and Video Equipment
  • Retail of Telecommunications Equipment 
  • Retail of Household Furniture and Lighting & other Household Articles
  • ​Retailers of Carpets, Rugs, Curtains, Wall & Floor Coverings

Pavement Cafe Licensing

You can now apply for a pavement cafe licence from the Council.

HMRC

Guidance for businesses on tax. 
The helpline allows any business or self-employed individual who is concerned about paying their tax due to coronavirus to get practical help and advice.

Income Tax Payments due in July 2020 under the Self-Assessment system will be deferred to January 2021. 

Federation for Small Businesses

Advice and guidance on reducing the risks from the Coronavirus to you and your business targeted at small businesses and the self-employed. 

UK Government Advice

Advice and support for businesses from the UK Government. It includes details of support packages available to businesses due to COVID-19. For key business support information visit the main gov.uk COVID-19 business portal. 

Invest NI

Invest NI provide advice and support through its NI Business Info web site.

Federation of Master Builders

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) provide advice and support for businesses in the construction industry and its workforce.

As well as a dedicated section on their website, members make use of their advice services by telephoning the FMB Helpline on 0116 243 7623 (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm).

NI Hotels Federation

The Federation has been working across many strands to assist members with the Coronavirus situation.

This has included producing a Toolkit of advice, lobbying for business relief and support and engaging with marketing agencies to prepare for a resumption of normal business.

HSENI COVID-19 Update

The Department for the Economy (DfE) has published guidance on making workplaces safer and a list of priority sectors during the current coronavirus crisis.

Food Standards Agency

Guidance for Food Businesses on Reopening and Adapting your Food Business.

This FSA guidance is for food businesses looking to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sector guidance has been provided to help employers, employees and the self-employed understand how to work safely in the food sector.

The Executive Office

The Executive have published a 5 stage recovery plan for easement of restrictions.  

UK Government’s Plan for Jobs

In July the Chancellor announced a package of measures to support jobs in every part of the country, give businesses the confidence to retain and hire, and provide people with the tools they need to get better jobs.  The Plan for Jobs is the second part of a three-phase plan to secure the UK’s economic recovery from coronavirus.

Emergency Business Solutions Programme

Professional advice, to the value of £2,000/€2,250 inc VAT (100% funded), is available for cross-border companies in manufacturing and tradable services, to address key business challenges related to COVID-19.

E-Merge Programme

The E-Merge programme provides £2500/€2800 fully funded consultancy support to help businesses develop online sales and eCommerce solutions.

NI PPE Portal

The Buy Supply portal is a Northern Ireland wide initiative developed by the Mid and East Antrim Manufacturing Task Force with a simple aim of matching local SME suppliers with large buyers in the manufacturing sector.
