Construction Academy

The Construction Academy will support 30 eligible individuals through a four-week bespoke training programme designed to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, experience, and confidence to begin a career with a construction business in the district. 


Qualification Gained

OCN Level 2 Introduction to Domestic Retrofit

This qualification is ideal for anyone who wants to learn to understand the retrofitting of domestic dwellings including insulation, airtightness requirements, thermal bridging, types of windows/doors and ventilation requirements within domestic retrofit projects.

In addition to a formal qualification,  you will receive one-to-one mentoring support to develop employability skills and equip you to be “job ready”. You will also have a guaranteed interview with a local employer and ongoing support from your dedicated mentor for up to six months following employment.

Applicants should be:

  • Living in the Mid Ulster District Council area;

  • Of working; and be unemployed/long term unemployed, under-employed or at risk of redundancy; or economically inactive for any reason (e.g. due to long term ill-health or disability, caring commitments, early retired, or any other reason).
