Village Plans

From a village enhancement scheme in Ballygawley to 4 newly enhanced play parks in Caledon, Granville, Augher and Tobermore, Mid Ulster is beginning to see the results from the first projects to be completed under a £2.8M rural development programme.

A total of 37 village renewal projects are being part funded under Priority 6 (LEADER) of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and the European Union, with the Council’s investment totalling £800K over 4 years.

The projects are being coordinated by the Council in partnership with local communities and a further four are to come for Benburb, Castlecaulfield, Gulladuff and Newmills.

A pedestrian linkage path from Tobermore Road to the Walled Garden on Church Street is planned for Maghera and planning permission is also being sought for renovation works at the community building in Ardboe.

The next phase of work will include a range of projects in Upperlands, Swatragh, Churchtown and Lissan, Moortown, The Loup, Desertmartin, Clonoe, Ballinderry and Ballylifford, Orritor and Broughderg, Killyman and Eglish.
