New Mid Ulster Arts Festival on the horizon

Mid Ulster District Council has gathered together a month long mix of entertainment, music, drama, exhibitions and workshops that will shine a light on Mid Ulster’s arts scene for the very first time.

Running from 1 – 31 March, the Mid Ulster Arts Festival is a showcase of the local Art scene in Mid Ulster with a range of events offering something for everyone.

From St Patrick’s Day celebrations to Seachtain Na Gaeilge, stage performances to literary events, exhibitions to creative dance and much more, the Arts Festival is a focal point that will connect our community through creativity.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Córa Corry, looking ahead to the month long series of events, said,

“Mid Ulster District Council are always immensely proud of our local people and the vast amount of talent existing within the creative and arts sector in Mid Ulster.

That’s why this year we wanted for the first time to put on record all the fantastic opportunities for residents to connect through creativity. It’s fantastic to have this festival as a platform, showcasing and celebrating the work that is being produced across our district. I hope everyone can find something that they enjoy, and in doing so show their support for the organisations that work so hard to bring our district to life through the arts.”

Events will take place right across Mid Ulster in a number of venues, including the Burnavon, Cookstown; Hill of The O’Neill & Ranfurly House, Dungannon; Seamus Heaney HomePlace, Bellaghy; Bardic Theatre, Donaghmore; An Carn, Draperstown and more.

For those wishing to try their hand at something creative or learn a new skill, there’s also the opportunity to attend creative workshops, covering topics such as hand embroidery and Spring wreath making.

Whilst an exclusive exhibition of Seamus Heaney archived materials and World Poetry Day readings cater for the literary minds, tea dances and children’s activities on the programme cater for young and old alike.
