Poolpod

At Mid Ulster District Council, Pool Pods form part of our commitment to making leisure facilities more accessible and ensuring that everyone can enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of swimming.

A Pool Pod is an innovative, inclusive piece of equipment designed to help people with reduced mobility access swimming pools safely and independently. Using a powered seat, the Pool Pod gently lowers and raises users into and out of the water, providing a dignified alternative to traditional pool access methods.

Find out more about Poolpod access at Cookstown, Dungannon and Greevale Leisure Centres.

Cubbie Sensory Unit at Cookstown Leisure Centre

The Cubbie Sensory Unit at Cookstown Leisure Centre provides a specialist sensory environment for children and adults who may benefit from additional sensory support.

Some people with neurodivergent needs experience hyper-sensitivity or hypo-sensitivity to their surroundings. Busy leisure environments can sometimes create barriers to participation.

The Cubbie Sensory Unit helps make leisure activities more accessible by providing a controlled, multi-sensory space that can be adapted to suit individual needs. The unit offers a sensory management system designed to promote comfort, engagement and wellbeing.

The Cubbie Sensory Unit can be booked through the Leisure Hub.

Dedicated Quiet Time Sessions

Dedicated Quiet Time sessions provide a calmer environment for customers who may benefit from reduced sensory stimulation, including neurodivergent individuals and those who prefer a quieter setting.

During Quiet Time sessions, we aim to:

  • Reduce or switch off background music.

  • Minimise public announcements where possible.

  • Encourage a quieter atmosphere throughout the facility.

  • Reduce unnecessary lighting effects and distractions.

  • Create a more relaxed and supportive environment.

Quiet Time sessions are open to everyone.
