At Mid Ulster District Council, Pool Pods form part of our commitment to making leisure facilities more accessible and ensuring that everyone can enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of swimming.
A Pool Pod is an innovative, inclusive piece of equipment designed to help people with reduced mobility access swimming pools safely and independently. Using a powered seat, the Pool Pod gently lowers and raises users into and out of the water, providing a dignified alternative to traditional pool access methods.
Pool Pods can benefit a wide range of users, including people with physical disabilities, limited mobility, long-term health conditions, older people and anyone who may find using pool steps or ladders difficult. They can also support carers and family members by making pool access easier and safer.
Pool Pods are available at:
We recommend contacting the relevant leisure centre in advance of your visit if you require the use of a Pool Pod or other accessibility support. This will help us ensure that suitable arrangements can be made to meet your needs.
The Poolpod was funded through the Department for Communities and Sport Northern Ireland. Disability Sport NI delivered the project in partnership with Mid Ulster District Council.
