Tyrone GAA team recognised at Civic Honours Reception

Mid Ulster District Council held a Civic Honours Reception this week to recognise the achievements of the Tyrone Senior GAA team and management in winning the 2021 Ulster and All-Ireland championships.

The reception was held at Hill of O’Neill and Ranfurly House, Dungannon on Monday, 15 November 2021.

Tyrone joint-manager Feargal Logan accepted the Civic Honours Award on behalf of the entire Tyrone team.

Three of the squad who reside in Mid Ulster - Kieran McGeary, Niall Morgan, and Darren McCurry - were also recognised for securing a spot on the RTE Sunday Game 2021 Team of the Year. Captain, Padraig Hampsey, Conn Kilpatrick and Peter Harte were also named but were unable to attend the awards evening.

Chair of the Council, Councillor Paul McLean congratulated the team and management saying,

The Tyrone team surpassed all expectations this year, picking up All Ireland and Ulster titles in Feargal Logan and Brian Dooher’s first year as joint managers. This talented group of players and their managers have represented our towns and villages on the world stage with honour. Their efforts and decorum will live long in the memories of the many people who watched them lift the Sam Maguire trophy.
